シュールレアリズム運動が未だに誤解され未完であるように、前衛的な身体表現として出発した舞踏も多くの誤解と憧れを生んできた未完の運動です。
私は舞踏の創始者「土方巽（１９２８−１９８６）とその死の前年に共同作業した一人として、その精神の高みと柔らかいアジアのイマジネーションをもって近代文明へのささやかな提案を発信する使命を持つと信じています。
舞踏は身体とそのよって立つ風土に深く結びつくため、曖昧な「伝統」や歪んだナショナリズムへ行き着いたり、あるいはその肉体の持つスピリチュアルな性格のため、宗教的な先祖帰りの方向を持っています。従って、私は舞踏が発見した肉体の思想とは、身体という衣とそれを取り巻く風土を思考する芸術運動であると規定いたします。そして、この地平から生まれる世界観は人の精神に活力を与えコミュニティーの再創造を促すに違いありません。
私は２００１年の”グラウンド０” から３ヶ月後頻繁に世界各国を旅するようになりました。それは言葉より、ダンスメディアの持つ強度が、国際的かつ学際的な共同作業を円滑にし、その共同作業がマイノリティーへの共鳴と真の相互理解の場を作るのだと知ったからです。畢竟「死すべきもの」である私たちは次のあるいはその次の世代の為に、準備すべき希望ある未来図を描く事に他なりません。これが私のアーティストとしての存在理由です。
Surrealism movement is still now undone with misconception in a similar way, Butoh started as an avant-garde body expression used to mention in a longing tone or hate with misunderstanding.
I am one of the dancer co-worked with Tatsumi-Hijikata / Butoh Founder (1929-1986) at his last moment in 1985. Since then I have a mission to pass his high dignity for his arts and artistic spirit for the Modern Civilization with my tiny contribution with “Body in Asia” like a soft candlelight from the darkness.
Since Butoh grounds on the body, connecting deeply in its indigenous aural region, that have a tendency to become easy to believe so called “Tradition”, distorted Nationalism and reverse the religion because of the labyrinth of flesh. Therefore, I sincerely clear my path by Dance Media toward the world that Butoh is the Art Movement. Butoh is based on body as a costume including landscape which has a potential to recover and activate the revitalization of humanity and community.
After 3 months later from “THE GROUND ZERO” of September 11, I came to become a traveler and eager to make an international and trans-disciplinary project where the place we could reach the real mutual understanding and resonate the minority in the collaboration. ”MEMENT MORI” as a human inevitably, we need to draw the hopeful Future Vision for the sake of next generation also next next generation which is my raison d’etre as an artist.
